A complete sentence sequence (as marked bold above), including fix status, time, position, satellite status and some more data is sent continuously about once in a second.

Each sentence contains a checksum (the two last characters after the '*'), which allows the receiver to detect possible character corruption during transmission. If the calculated checksum on the received sentence is not identical to the checksum contained within the sentence, the complete sentence should be ignored.
